VW Trucks in Europe/ 87 double cab pickup

German spec cars and trucks have odd trailer hitches.  We use square tubing most times in fabricating a trailer hitch while they use an expensive forging with an integral ball.  I wonder if that's a 1 7/8" ball?  Trailers are everywhere in Germany.  Instead of buying a pickup truck to ferry things around with, most choose to get a trailer hitch on a really fuel efficient car and save money.  Remember, regular unleaded costs over $4.00 per gallon in Germany.  This Transporter has the European equivalent to a camper top;  the tarp and frame.  It comes off easy, it stores flat, and it looks pretty important up there, doesn't it?
