Welcome VW drivers!

You have reached the web site of Specialty Automotive. Specialty Automotive is a restoration & parts house specializing in VW / Audi cars (trucks, too). Specialty is owned and operated by me, Rick Sherrod, a certifiable VW restoration mechanic. ;-) In addition to parts & restoration, Specialty also rescues special rare models of VWs (& Audis) when offered for sale to the public (vehicles such as Quattros, Syncros, Single & Crewcab Transporters, Diesels, Turbodiesels, etc.... Nope, no Turbodiesel Syncro Crewcabs yet ). I've been told by lots of folks that I'm nuts for specializing in "cheap" German cars. I think that most have just never had a well cared-for VW to fall in love with.

Some steel accessories for the Vanagon are in the works. Such accessories would include:

• steel rectangular rear bumper/ class III receiver hitch combination (without drilling),
  Sneak preview of rear bumper (prototype)
• steel brushguard with pushbar (without drilling),
• steel rear swing-away tire mount (drilling required),
• steel roof racks including Westy.

Availability of these items will be according to response. I will build a brush guard for my own V-6 Vanagon regardless and display it on this website.

I have some cars for sale now and then. Naturally, delivery is available anywhere. Check back every now and then to view what is currently available with this link.

• Lucas MetalMax (brake pads for high performance, low dust)
• Lobro (CV joints, boot kits, axle shafts)
• ZF (Zahnrad Fabrikat meaning "toothed wheel fabricator", power steering racks, power steering pumps, etc.)
• PLUS all kinds of nameless (to me) manufacturers that made the motor mounts, cam drive sprockets, instrument panel bulbs, door handles, etc. that went in to making your VW a VW and not a Sentra or an Opel (not that I would even compare them) :-)

All parts are available at excellent prices as I don't expect to become a tycoon from VW parts. Parts are shipped from warehouses in California, Texas, New Jersey, or Georgia to cut down on shipping time. Anything can be shipped Next Day Air (at extra cost) in case your car is disabled and most regular ground shipments take no longer than three days anywhere in the U.S.. When you call, it's best to have the application (year, model, & VIN of your car) or the part number available to save your valuable time. If you happen to get an answering service please, please leave this information in a message. My telephone service alerts me of messages right away, 24hrs a day, so phone tag is a very short game here and I check E-mail daily.

Specialty is based in Macon, Georgia, USA, with parts shipped all over the U.S. and restorations delivered as near as Milledgeville, GA, and as far away as Erie, PA, and Long Island, NY!! Now, with the internet, there is truly only a "here".
